Brockville Industrial Park Golf League

A Cedar Valley tradition since 1979.

The league was established in 1979 by a group of Bell Canada employees at what was once called Sherwood Golf and Country Club, a nine-hole course located in Forthton, Ontario. The league quickly expanded to include other businesses in Brockville and the surrounding area, and adopted the name Brockville Industrial Park Golf League.

The league's first- and second-place trophies were donated by Ball Refrigeration and Granges NYBY, two companies that are no longer in the area. Over the years, the league has had several presidents, including founder Ed Williams, Rick McGrath, Leo McKenna, John Beckstead, Jack Goodenough, Joe Deshambault, and current president Dave Wilgosh. Past scorekeepers include Jack Nolan, Harry Sayeau, Ray Craig, Fred Lunman, Tim Ferguson, and current scorekeeper Todd Evans.

As recorded on Cedar Valley's original league page, the league had played on the same course for 44 years and was entering its 45th season. During that time, the golf course had several owners, including Gord Robertson, Reg Smith, and Rick Carr. Reg Smith changed the course's name to its current one: Cedar Valley Golf and Country Club.

BIPGL plays every Thursday during the summer months, concluding in late September. The league continues to focus on making sure golfers have fun and enjoy themselves each year.
